CampX Incubator has been renamed to Venture Access

In the fast-evolving landscape of corporate–startup collaboration, the way we describe the three CampX programs plays a crucial role in shaping how they are perceived and how effective they can be. Therefore, two years after launching the CampX Incubator program in the hub in Gothenburg, Sweden we see a need to change the name to Venture Access to clarify the value we deliver.
CampX Incubator has been renamed to Venture Access

The CampX Venture Access (previously named Incubator) was launched at the beginning of 2023 and today has 18 early phase startups with fore front technologies and solutions in the portfolio.

The term 'Incubator' is often associated with very early-stage or first-time entrepreneurs who are at the start of their journey—offering foundational guidance and support on how to build a startup. While that type of company building advice plays an important role in the broader innovation ecosystem, it doesn’t reflect the level of maturity, the type of collaboration we focus on, nor the unique value we can deliver at CampX by Volvo Group.

The Venture Access program provides deep industry access and fosters close collaboration with industry peers. It opens our industrial network, enables the sharing of expertise and insights, and supports startups in quickly validating their customer assumptions.

This perspective was also echoed by several startups who joined the CampX Venture Access program. They shared that the term 'Incubator' didn’t capture the value and experience they received—emphasizing that what we offer goes far beyond office space and guidance on sales, funding or marketing.

Why Venture Access?

Renaming the incubator to Venture Access strengthens alignment with the other CampX programs—Venture Client and Venture Builder—creating a clearer, more connected identity. The word Access was carefully chosen to reflect what startups truly gain: direct access to Volvo Group experts, real-world industry challenges, and the wider innovation ecosystem—including venture capital firms, investors, academia, and other strategic partners.

Startups are inherently flexible—they often work remotely, travel frequently, or spend time at customer sites, workshops, or manufacturing facilities. While they may not require a fixed workspace, we still offer every startup within the Venture Access program the opportunity to work alongside our engineers and experts at the CampX site in Gothenburg, Sweden. At the same time, placing less emphasis on physical presence gives us opportunities to scale the Venture Access concept across all CampX hubs globally—including France, India, and North America—even in locations where dedicated space for startups may be limited.

The CampX concept

In CampX by Volvo Group we have three engagement programs including the Venture Access. In the Venture Client portfolio, we have to date over 170 Proof of Value projects with different startups validating solutions with real life challenges, fast and simple and with the Venture Builder we capture internal ideas and build new revenue streams in house or as spinouts.
