Responsible Behavior

Safety comes first in everything we do. We have a vision for zero accidents with Volvo Group products and in our workplaces. We believe workplace accidents, near misses and work-related illness can be prevented to minimize both physical and psychological risks.

We are proud to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining the talent we need. As a human centric company, we strive to have a positive impact on people around us and are committed to respect human rights.

How we act in our daily work defines the perception of the Volvo Group by the world. We are continuously working to build and be part of environmentally and socially sustainable value chains, and engage in society and communities

Responsible behavior initiatives

Committed to safety

Our ambition is to be a world-class company on health and safety. We strive for a workplace where all colleagues come home safe every day. The physical and mental health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce at all levels of the organization is a top priority.

Every year there are more than 1.35 million lives lost and 50 million people injured in traffic accidents around the world, causing tragedy and human suffering. We work proactively to develop intelligent solutions that not only mitigate the consequences of accidents, but strive to avoid them altogether. Our priorities are zero fatalities, zero injuries and ultimately zero accidents.

Using our full potential

Our industry is facing significant technology shifts and new business models. We will, therefore, continue to develop our colleagues and focus on re-skilling activities to meet these new demands. We are committed to being the employer of choice, attracting and retaining the talent we need.

Leveraging diversity drives business success, as it allows all of us to contribute to our full potential. Women are underrepresented in the automotive industry, and in the Volvo Group we have now set a target to have 35% female leaders by 2030.

We expect mutual respect, free from all forms of discrimination and harassment among colleagues and between company representatives and business partners.

Responsible behavior across the value chain

How we act in our daily work is key to building trust among colleagues, customers and society. We have zero tolerance for corruption and bribery

Our commitment to respect human rights covers not only our own operations and employees, but also our relationships with communities near our operations, suppliers and people potentially impacted by the use of our products and solutions.

We work in close partnership with our supply chain partners, distributors and customers. At the same time, it is important for us to identify and mitigate sustainability risks with focus on due diligence, building awareness and collaborations. The overall purpose is for our colleagues and business partners to embed responsible business practices across the value chain.

Engage in society

Our engagement in society focuses on activities that contribute positively to communities where we are present. We support employee engagement in community activities especially focusing traffic safety, environmental care and education. In times of need such as natural disasters, pandemics and other emergencies, we may provide monetary and in-kind contributions, and support employee initiated voluntary initiatives.

The world is seeing an increase in skills shortages and skills mismatches that often affect the ability of vulnerable people to be self-sufficient. This is an opportunity and part of our social responsibility where we can use our expertise to solve a business obstacle for our customers while doing good for society. We do this by engaging in vocational training, based on the highest international standards in partnership with global development organizations including UN agencies.
