The Project Management group govern and drive program/project/construction assignments deliveries to Testing, Verification and Materials Technology (VT&MT). We aim to be experts in execute technical complex industrial program/project/construction assignments for laboratories at Group Trucks Technology (GTT).

VT&MT is responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of test and materials technology laboratories. We work both local and global to deliver high-quality results and expert functions within our areas of responsibility.

VT&MT is a part of Powertrain Engineering, GTT located in Gothenburg. We have a legacy of innovation. Innovations that we do today will reshape the transportation industry of tomorrow.

About the role

As a Lead Design Engineer within Mechanical Engineering in Project Management you are together with colleagues, responsible for mechanical design validation in facility and test cell development, assignments, and projects. You will analyze and understand incoming needs from internal customers, as well as needs and design requirements specifications for external suppliers.

You will create sustainable solutions, strategies, methods and instructions within test cell mechanics, and mechanical equipment aligned with future demands. You are expected to bring expertise in CAD (Inventor) and standards for mechanical constructions. You will perform strength calculations and problem solving, as well as coaching and support with guidance in mechanical engineering.

Together with your team, you will take part in benchmarking different test cell designs and layouts and take decisions to create a test & development environment on a premium standard and quality level.

Additional responsibilities are:

  • Understand the rig specifications, translate to RFQ documentation and secure common standards.
  • Define technical solutions.
  • Coaching and support with guidance in mechanical engineering.
  • Documentation system (Vault).

Requirements:

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education.
  • Several years’ work experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in testing and verification.
  • Experience in complex machinery deliveries/installations and hand-over to line organization.
  • Basic knowledge in CE marking and machine directive.
  • English proficiency, both written and spoken. Swedish is a merit.
