Con-Way Truckload begins operations in the first quarter of 2005. The company ordered 46 Volvo VN670s with 465 hp Volvo VED12 engines, for delivery by Dec. 31, 2004. Con-Way plans to expand its fleet during 2005.
The need to recruit and retain the best drivers was a critical factor in Con-Way's decision to choose the Volvo VN.

Ett av Nordamerikas största transport- och logistikföretag, Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. har av Volvo Trucks North America beställt 46 Volvo VN-lastbilar till ett nystartat dotterbolag. Företaget har inte tidigare haft Volvo-lastbilar i sin flotta och en avgörande orsak till ordern var lastbilarnas höga produktivitet och komfort som av Con-Way ses som en fördel i den hårda konkurrensen om duktiga förare.
Det nystartade dotterbolaget Con-Way Truckload, kommer bara att ha Volvolastbilar i sin flotta när verksamheten startar under det första kvartalet 2005. Lastbilarna bolaget beställt är Volvo VN670 och samtliga är utrustade med Volvos VED12-motor på 465 hästkrafter. Leveranserna kommer att ske före den 31 december i år. Con-Way planerar att utöka sin lastbilsflotta under 2005.
I Nordamerika råder stor brist på kvalificerade förare, ett förhållande som enligt Con-Way var avgörande för beslutet att köpa Volvolastbilar.
”Volvo-lastbilarnas goda rykte hos förarna kommer att hjälpa oss attrahera de förare vi behöver, trots den oerhörda konkurrens som råder om duktiga förare”, säger Douglas W Stotlar vice vd för Con-Way. ”De bästa och mest produktiva förarna kräver den mest produktiva lastbilen så att de kan maximera sina intäkter. De vill också ha säkra lastbilar där förarmiljön kännetecknas av god komfort och hög kvalité.”
