Mack
Deliveries from Mack through July totaled 13,669 trucks, up 26% compared with the year-earlier period. The gains in deliveries continue to reflect recent strength in the Class 8 (Heavy duty) truck market in North America. Although demand for new trucks in North America has cooled somewhat from the fast pace seen earlier in the year, orders and retail sales are still expected to be well above performance in 2003 through the remainder of 2004.

Volvo Trucks’ deliveries during the period January-July amounted to 51,977 trucks, an increase of 29% compared with the year-earlier period. Notable was the very sharp increase for Canada (+106%, 1,924 vehicles). Deliveries were also very high in Europe, with the largest increases in Germany (+35%), Spain (+33%), Poland (+26%) and France (+24%). Asia rose 41%, due mainly to strong figures from Iran (+57%).
