Largest ever order for Volvo Buses in Australia

Volvo Buses has received its largest ever individual order in Australia. The order from the State Transit Authority of New South Wales is for 180 bus chassis. All of these buses will operate in Sydney.

The order is for 100 single bus chassis and 80 articulated buses. This is the third order from State Transit Authority of New South Wales over the past three years. An order for 30 bus chassis that are currently operating in Newcastle was received in 2002. A further 60 bus chassis were ordered in 2003 and are operating in the Sydney area.

The 180 bus chassis now on order will be supplied between now and July 2005. To achieve this, Volvo Buses is cooperating with two independent bodybuilders, Custom Coaches of Sydney and Volgren of Melbourne.

The chassis for this order is the Volvo low-entry B12BLE. The single buses will seat 63 passengers and the articulated buses will seat 80 passengers. The chassis will be manufactured by Volvo Buses' factory in Borås, Sweden.

"The order from New South Wales is further recognition that Volvo Buses' B12 BLE is one of the best products in the industry," says David Mead, head of Volvo Bus Australia.

Last year Volvo Buses sold 177 chassis in Australia. This gives the company a market share of 27% for buses over 16 tonnes.

Största ordern hittills för Volvo Bussar i Australien

Volvo Bussar har fått sin största enskilda order hittills i Australien. Ordern från delstaten New South Wales är på 180 busschassier. Samtliga bussar skall gå i trafik i Sydney.

Ordern gäller 100 chassier för singelbussar och 80 för ledbussar. Det här är den tredje ordern från trafikmyndigheten i New South Wales de senaste tre åren. År 2002 beställdes 30 busschassier som nu går i trafik i staden Newcastle. 2003 beställdes ytterligare 60 busschassier som används i Sydneyområdet.

De 180 busschassier som nu har beställts skall levereras från och med nu fram till juli 2005. För att hinna med detta, samarbetar Volvo Bussar med två företag som bygger själva karosserna, Custom Coaches i Sydney och Volgren i Melbourne.

Det chassi som ordern gäller är Volvos lågentréchassi B12BLE. Singelbussarna tar 63 passagerare och ledbussarna 80 passagerare. Chassierna tillverkas i Volvo Bussars fabrik i Borås, Sverige.

Förra året sålde Volvo Bussar i Australien 177 chassier. Det ger företaget en marknadsandel på 27 procent på bussar över 16 ton.
